The company was founded in 1974, is an independent and medium-sized family-run company based in Germany and operates more than forty years successfully wholesale of chemicals. As a distributor of well-known international chemical companies such as Dow Automotive, HB Fuller, Huntsman and BASF, the company has established an excellent reputation in their industry. High-quality products, comprehensive application service and reliable distribution secure their international market position. The 100 % owned Japan subsidiary, which is in the process of its establishment, has been tasked with expansion and market share development and customer care. The position of the Managing Director/President & Representative Director will have a key role in these efforts.
Performance – The Managing Director/President & Representative Director should be capableof increasing revenues and achieving a sales performance above budgetary projections. Heshould have a technical understanding as well as be able to develop business proposals and toinitiate and successfully conclude also complex business transactions.
Customer Focus – The Managing Director/President & Representative Director mustimperatively be committed to a strong customer-oriented approach with a good track record inidentifying changes in customers’ needs and converting them into profitable business initiatives. Commercial background, marketing spirit and experience in dealing with customers will be required. The job holder will have to demonstrate sales hunting spirit an in order to besuccessful and guide his team toward value added operations. This is a key criterion forbeing recognized in the group.
Team leadership –The Managing Director/President & Representative Director will show awillingness to lead from the front, and take risks or initiatives that encourage others to stretchthemselves within the corporate framework. The Managing Director/President & Representative Director should be able to show recognition for concrete achievements, support and encouragement in the event of failures or mistakes. People’s management will be a key element of the job. Managing Director/President & Representative Director will need to recruit, employ, and manage people in their operation. An experience as leader and manager is mandatory.
Market Knowledge – The Managing Director/President & Representative Director mustunderstand the market players and be able to capitalise on this knowledge to seizeopportunities, which would persistently extend market shares with new and existing customers. The Managing Director/President & Representative Director must be able to understand the implications of market trends and to draw conclusions for appropriate actions. Ideal Candidates bring along a network of business contacts in the automotive industry. Understanding supply chain and logistic elements of distribution will be important to build the right set up in order to bring top class service to customers. An experience of distribution would be a plus but not mandatory.
Collaboration – The Managing Director/President & Representative Director will be able to build close partnering relationships with customers, partners and colleagues across different regions and business segments; and ensure that the mutual interests of all parties are met. TheManaging Director/President & Representative Director will show an ability to recognise sources of conflict, such as cultural, functional or geographic issues and act to resolve them.
Language skills – Native Japanese and fluent English required.
Education – The Managing Director/President & Representative Director will have a technicalTechnical background and education with experience in one of the company’s field ofapplication: structural adhesives, composites, coating, and electronic casting. Experience should have been developed in a multinational company.
This position requires approximately 5-10 years sales and marketing experience of this aminimum of 3-5 years of sales team management experience within a relevanttechnology/industry’s B2B with a solid record of accomplishment of selling technologicallyinvolved adhesives and composite applications as well as market and leadership experience inJapan and a longer term commitment to the company. Furthermore, the ManagingDirector/President & Representative Director should have professional experience in sales,strategy and business development. The Managing Director/President & Representative Director will report to the Chairman of the group board of directors based in Germany.

Salary: JPY 16 – 18M
