Its core products – current and voltage transducers – are used in a broad range of applications in drives & welding, renewable energies & power supplies, traction, high precision, conventional and green cars businesses.With its regional sales offices close to its clients’ locations, the company offers a seamless service around the globe.

For the 100 % owned Japan subsidiary in Tokyo and established in 1975, the business developed decently, and solid customer basis has been acquired. Now the time has come to “switch the gear” in order to reinforce sales activities with Japanese and international customers and partners in both, the existing applications and market segments as well as new business fields. The Japanese subsidiary has been tasked with expansion, market share development and extended customer care. At the same time, the proximity to research & development of the highly innovative Japanese customers shall be increased in order to generate future business opportunities. The position of the Head of Division Automotive will have a key role in these efforts.

The Position
The Head of Division Automotive will have a key role in the market Automotive and his main purpose is the overall management of the Division Automotive with a strong team of currently 7 members. Next to the team management, the Division Head shall create, develop and maintain long-term relationships with the Engineering and Purchasing departments of automotive clients in Japan, understanding their needs in the areas of The company’s electronic and mechanical expertise and identify and conquer new business opportunities. The position reports to the Global Sales and Program Manager Automotive with a dotted-line to the Japan General Manager.

Main tasks:
・Managing Automotive Team
・Generate new business opportunities and Sales in Japan.
・Be the key resource for Automotive Sales and Marketing in Japan.
・Manage and provide strategic guidance to local Automotive sales.
・Manage the company’s Automotive distributors.
・Ensure the technical liaison between automotive customers and the team in Japan as well as headquarters in Europe.
・Supervise/Manage projects in the area of Automotive in Japan.
・Understand customer applications, analyze global needs, and proactively find solutions.
・Propose, compare and find the optimal technical solutions in his/her field of expertise.
・Ensure optimal performance within the quality specifications.
・Carry out trainings in his/her areas of expertise.
・Report regularly to his hierarchy.

・Degree in Mechanical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
・Minimum 5 to 10 years management experience of a sales team in Japan’s Automotive Tier1 suppliers.
・Team worker with excellent communication skills (English, Japanese), international mindset
and intercultural experience, (experience with EU, China and US).
・Knowledge of mechatronics and/or electronic sensors will be a plus.
・Willing to travel frequently within Japan, and regularly to Europe.
・Good judgement and business skills.
・Native Japanese speaker fluent in English, French a plus.
・International mindset and intercultural experience.
・Autonomous, proactive problem solver motivated by bottom line results, profitability and challenges.
・Excellent communicator with good project management skills

The candidate should be a “hands on” person with a “roll-up the sleeves and can do” attitude, comfortable with working towards targets and objectives and be willing to spend a significant amount of time visiting target customers and distributors on management level, shop floor and maintenance level. He knows how to lead a division within the bandwidth of sensitive to demanding, how to analyze markets and develop these with tailored and profitable strategies.
